Since this is porn class, maybe i should go out by talking alittle bit about porn facts. Yeah that is exactly what i will do. Here are some interesting and disturbing facts on porn I've compiled.

-An estimated $8-10 billion is spent annually by Americans for pornography. This exceeds the combined gross of ABC, CBS, And NBC, which is approx. 6.2 billion.

-The average age at which men first see Playboy or a similar magazine is 11 years of age.

-Laboratory studies have shown that viewing violent pornographic films can increase aggression against women.

- The actual making of pornography involves violence and sexual assaults. Linda Marchiano testified that she had been held at gunpoint to perform in the movie “Deep Throat”.

-The child pornography industry makes $2-3 billion annually.

Last week, a CBSnews online article reported that Deputy Homeland Security Press Secretary Brian Doyle resigned due to getting arrested after sexually preying on a detective as a 14 year old girl. The dectective, name not given, was looking to crack down the fiend in this particular case and was able to entice Doyle to talk to him in a sexual manner. Homeland Security Seceretary Michael Chertoff acknowledged that department's sexual misconduct was the case of "individual's misstep". Apparently Doyle, 55, had been caught too while working at Time magazine's Washington bureau, managers discovered that Doyle had been looking at pornography on a receptionist's computer late at night. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/04/07/tech/main1482848.shtml

I find it really funny, at the same time, disturbing that someone with that much responsibility can be such a sexual predator. I think when people hear of high profile child porn cases, they expect to hear it from Priests but this exemplifies that anything can happen anywhere, as long as child is involved sexually.

I've had the privilege to take this course twice over the past year, and although I've had to take it for the second time because of my bad grade I feel I've learned an awful alot second time around. For many reasons. When this course debuted I had hard time during lectures because i had so many friends in the classroom it was just impossible for me to focus and concentrate. Often times, i would get talked out by friends to leave in middle of lectures. The fact that it was a lecture course with more than 400 students in it made it pretty disturbing, in a sense that my eyes were everywhere. From checking out the ladies, to play around with people by throwing things at them; it was just real difficult in general to get anything accomplished. For myself, at least.

When this course moved online, i started to get things done in much more efficient manner. Without being bothered, i can go to the library and leisurely watch lectures whenever i want. And best of all, there is only one exam for the entire semester. In addition, the fact that blogs account for much of the course i think is neat because it allows everyone to be interactive and just freely express on what they feel is relevant. I feel very confident that i am equipped to do much better than last semester. Not only because i have nowhere to go up (grade wise) but i am also learning this time around because i am able to concentrate and do the things i want to do without being interrupted. I feel that online courses, not just this one, invites you to get the work done and keep pace with everything in class. Because, even though there is always email, you don't have that luxury to talk to professor or TA right after class.

I feel kind of akward writing about this because we all know AIDS is a sensitive subject. But we all need a wake up call sometimes so i will bite the bullet and write about it. People nowdays, especially us COLLEGE kids are more likely to committ unprotected sex than than ANY other groups. How do i know this? Because of the setting we are exposed to. We are bunch of young adults gathered together. In order to grow up and learn you need to be crazy at one point in your lives, and this pertains to all of us in college. When hearing the term "crazy" it has a different meaning for everyone. It can mean get incredibly drunk with your friends and dance off the floor or get incredibly drunk…and have sexual intercourse. While there is no denying any of this is wrong, it CAN be wrong- if you are careless. To be more blunt WEAR A CONDOM when you have sex, don't be an idiot and say "ohhh but i forgot to wear a condom because i was so fucked up". As a college student, i've been involved in many situations. I know how kids are like when they are in party scenes. Get drunk and have intercourse.

At a party, in the beginning of the semester, I hooked up(yes, i had sex) with some random chick whom i had never met prior to that night without a condom. The next day, when i woke up i had the biggest scare in my life. "WHAT HAVE I DONE?" i asked myself. Normally, when people get laid they have the biggest smile on their face the morning after. This wasn't the case for me. It is one thing to do it with a person you know alot about but to do it with a stranger you've never met?? I was scared. Very scared. Because i didn't know of the ramafications. What if she had AIDS? or some kind of STD. Few weeks later, i went to get tested and to my relief i found out i was negative. I am thankful to GOD and just fortunate enough that it didn't happen to me because IT CAN HAPPEN to you before you know it.

Child Sex Tourism

Considering what i wrote on my last blog, my suspicions are confirmed. While child pornography is what seems to make pornography so wrong, there is another growing phenomenon of exploitation in every continent and countries regarding child pornography called Child Sex Tourism (CST). This is when people travel from their own country to foreign countries to engage in a sex act with an underaged. It is believed that, this particular illegal doing is fueled on by weak law enforcement, the Internet, ease of travel, and poverty.

Tourists engaging in CST typically travel from their home countries to developing countries. Sex tourists from Japan, for example, travel to Thailand, and Americans tend to travel to Mexico or Central America. “Situational abusers” do not intentionally travel to seek sex with a child but take advantage of children sexually once they are in country. “Preferential child sex abusers” or pedophiles travel for the purpose of exploiting children. And just as I hoped, something is actually done about this. There has been a worldwide increase in the prosecution of child sex tourism offenses. In addition, alot of countries are beginning to pass on extraterrestrial laws that allow the prosecution of their nationals for crimes committed abroad, regardless of whether the offense is punishable in the country where it occurred.

Child Pornography…STOP IT

Without question porn is one of the fastest growing industry out there, period. If not the biggest. While many would argue such case is not necessarily a bad thing, one thing to be concerned about, however, is that surface of child porn almost certainly parallels with expansion of porn. Simply put, more pornography brings out more child pornography. While i do not have facts to support this statement it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize such sentiment. I mention of this whole debacle because i want to emphasize child pornography is just wrong and we need to put an end to it, somehow someway. To be realistic, though that may never happen just because we have this thing called the Internet. Pedophiles and the manufacturers of child pornography are using the Internet to facilitate their activities. Children are being tracked and seduced via the Internet pedophiles from around the world are able to network with each other easily and inexpensively. Like i just mentioned, I know child pornography will never stop surfacing because of the internet. Having said that, the Government can and should crack down on pedophiles online by tracking them down with MORE purpose, rather than focusing on people who download music on Napster.

I read some of the blogs you posted on your website Mr. Lucas and I find them rather humorous, particularly the most recent one where you relate Muslims with homosexuals. Anyway, upon reading your blogs I do have a couple of questions that i want to be clarified on.

1. You say "you embrace the reality of gay community" but not "the conservative portrait of the ideal American gay that they have invented for the media." Please elaborate on that. Do you feel that media has wrong perception on gay community, how do you want to be portrayed?

2. Is there a message you're trying to point out to society when you make your films, or do you direct sheerly out of love for gay porn?

I just spoke to my ex girlfriend from High School for the first time in a long time. To my surprise, she called me out of nowhere. I was thrilled (i didn't indicate it during the conversation, of course) to hear from her because I had been thinking about her for quiet some time and last time i had talked to her was the day we separated. We are both considered adults now so we put aside whatever hard feelings we might've had and managed to engage ourselves in an interesting conversation going all the way back to Middle School, reminiscing about our old days. I was with this girl for 5 years. We broke up over the summer of my senior year because things were going sour at that point and for alot of reasons i would rather not specify. Plus, we were both going off to college once the summer was over anyway. The conversation we had was very productive. We both got alot of things off our chest and whatever feelings we might've had lingering for few years while we hadn't talked to one another. I was quiet impressed for the simple fact that she took the intiative to finally talk to me after all these years of not seeing and not even talking to each other. This leads me to wonder…

The consensus is when it comes to dating and relationship is men are supposed to make the initative to make it happen. I suppose it is what it is but at the same time, why does it have to be like that? What is it about women's intuition that is so mysterious to men? Why can't women be the initiator? I recall the day before i started going out with Kathleen (the EX) her friend came up to me and told me that she liked me so i was encouraged to go up to her or write a note saying i want to ask her out. I always had a feeling she liked me and I didn't think much of her other than the fact that she was really really good looking, so when i got the green light from her friend i was much more than willing to ask her out. However, if i knew what i know now back then, i would not have taken the initiative because, if she liked me why doesn't she just ask me directly instead of fucking around? I refuse to go by the rules when it comes to men and women because there shouldnt be any, This is why i admire women who goes after what she wants.

Cannabalism

I was briefly watching CNN today and I heard of the news, which I found to be pretty disturbing. Kevin Ray Underwood of Purcell, Oklahoma who had been accused of killing a 10-year-old girl neighbor confessed, he had “chopped her up” in his fantasy for cannibalism. Apparently, Underwood was known as a man who was quiet, rarely smiling, and depressive. According to the report, Underwood kept an online blog in which he asked himself “"If you were a cannibal, what would you wear to dinner?" and responded, "The skin of last night's main course." http://www.cnn.com/2006/LAW/04/16/underwood.ap/index.html

My take on this whole situation is, while it is terribly sad and unfair to the girl’s family, this freakish occurrence does not really surprise me because there are all kinds of people out there. This guy admitted that he developed a fetish for cannibalism after his depression deepened. During this process, he spent months of playing this online game called “Kingdom of Loathing” in which stick figured characters fight each other. I feel people these days are manipulated easily by the littlest of things. This leads me to question, how many people out there are driven to rape or do something really cruel to others because they were enticed from watching so much porn. Probably one too many.

I think i may have to reformat my computer or get a new anti-virus software because this one i have now ain't cuttin it. Everytime i open the Internet Explorer i get these damned pop ups. Of course, i never click on any unless its accidental and unfortunately today was my unlucky day because i ACCIDENTLY clicked on one, UGH!. When i got the glimpse of the link that was led on from the pop up, it read "Adult Friend Finder". To my curiosity, i read on to see what it was about and it was exactly what i had expected and suspected. Maybe, alot of people already knew about this so called Adult Friend Finder because it says there are more than 24 million active members, but this is all news to me. Apparently, this site is dedicated for people who want to get with others to have sex. I suppose it is similar (yet, in a very different way) to other social network sites such as myspace and facebook. I know that people are always trying to meet other people by using those two sites i mentioned above, but never did it occur to me there would be a site dedicated to match people to have sex. There's more to it. There are categories you can choose from "bondage" to "cross-dressing" That is just disturbing to me. It implies to me that everyone is just bunch of horny and greedy bastards living to fullfil their needs, nothing else. I mean damn 24 million?? Don't these people have families, jobs or lives???
